Documents for Public Comment

DHS invites Tribal Nations and stakeholders, including local governments and the public, to review documents and provide feedback during comment periods. As a part of the process, DHS works to identify, understand, and, to the extent possible, minimize impacts to the environment. NEPA documents reviewed by the public include Environmental Assessments, Findings of No Significant Impact, Environmental Impact Statements, and Records of Decision. Environmental Assessments

DHS seeks stakeholder input by April 6, 2025, regarding any information or potential environmental concerns associated with the Proposed Action: Scoping Letter for the Programmatic Environmental Assessment of the Nationwide Operation of Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems by the Department of Homeland Security.

Environmental Impact Statements

Notice of Availability, request for comments for the Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the Resumption of the Migrant Protection Protocols Program

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announces the availability of the Draft Programmatic Environmental Assessment (PEA) and Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed resumption of the Migrant Protection Protocols (MPP) Program along the southern border of the United States (U.S.) as directed by the Executive Order entitled, Securing Our Borders (the Proposed Action). The Draft PEA programmatically evaluates reasonably foreseeable environmental impacts that may occur because of the Proposed Action and identifies standard best management practices (BMPs) by which DHS can reduce such impacts. Federal agencies; Tribal, state, and local governments; the public; and other interested parties are requested to comment on the Draft PEA and Draft FONSI.

Please provide any comments, concerns, information, studies, or other data you may have regarding the Proposed Action by May 25th, 2025. If you have comments or information relevant to the development of the PEA, please direct your correspondence to DHS Energy and Environment Division, Environmental Planning Branch at EED-EP@hq.dhs.gov, Subject Header: ‘Docket No. DHS 2025-2017 MPP PEA’.
