DHS supports compliance with more than 100 environmental and historic preservation laws, regulations, and executive orders to execute the DHS mission. Through compliance, DHS uses a systematic and interdisciplinary approach to evaluate potential environmental impacts, identify opportunities to engage the public, avoid unnecessary delays, and reduce the need for corrective measures through identification of minimization opportunities. DHS develops streamlined processes for a consistent approach to compliance and works with project offices to assess the environmental impacts of DHS projects and activities in an efficient manner.
