With these developments also comes new risk to the interconnected systems and data enabling opportunities across the homeland. One specific concern centers on existing encryption algorithms protecting individuals’ privacy, the confidentiality of business transactions, and the ability of the government to communicate securely. To ensure the continued protection of this data, the U.S. government is focusing on facilitating the development and subsequent adoption of post-quantum cryptography.
