The United States Secret Service (USSS) Enterprise Person (ePerson) Suite of web-based applications delivers an agency-wide employee records management solution that meets the protective, investigative, and personnel management needs of the organization. The ePerson application allows users to search, view, and maintain USSS employee information and data related to the protective, investigative, and personnel management functions of the organization. USSS is conducting this PIA Update to describe a new interconnection with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Performance and Learning Management System (PALMS).

Executive Summary to Report from the USSS Protective Mission Panel

The paramount mission of the United States Secret Service-protecting the President and other high-ranking national officials-allows no tolerance for error. A single miscue, or even a split-second delay, could have disastrous consequences for the Nation and the world. The men and women of the Secret Service fulfill one of the most important obligations in this country, and they do so often with no personal recognition, no desire for fame, and modest compensation. We know special agents of the United States Secret Service as the silent figures around the President, but we tend to notice them only in the extraordinarily rare moments when they fail. Most Americans know little of the work of the Secret Service's Uniformed Division and do not realize that it is the Uniformed Division that plays a primary role in the protection of the White House.

Director Mark Sullivan's Testimony on the Secret Service's Fiscal Year 2011 Budget Request

It is my privilege to appear before you today to discuss the President’s fiscal year (FY) 2011 budget request for the U.S. Secret Service. I would like to begin by thanking you for your tremendous support over the last several years. Given the increased operational requirements we saw late in the 2008 presidential campaign and during the transition, this Committee responded quickly by providing the Secret Service with the funds to make staffing adjustments, enhance protective countermeasures, and address interoperable communications deficiencies with our partner agencies. Those investments have yielded a stronger, more nimble agency at a time when the complexity of our dual mission presents constant challenges.
