Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program

The Cybersecurity Apprenticeship Program (CSAP) is designed to give current students an opportunity to work alongside cyber leaders at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Hosted by the DHS Headquarters Office of the Chief Information Officer, CSAP offers apprentices part-time positions throughout the agency. By working side by side with experts in cybersecurity, apprentices will gain valuable work experience and apply concepts, protocols and tools acquired through their academic achievements.

Participants may have the opportunity for conversion to full-time employment upon graduation.

Students participate in CSAP for one year and are required to work 16-20 hours per week.

Examples of participating components include the Cyber Security Infrastructure Agency (CISA), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), DHS Headquarters, and U.S. Secret Service. For more information about DHS Components, visit Operational and Support Components.

All positions are in-person in Springfield, VA.

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be able to obtain and hold a security clearance
  • Be enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program with at least 30 credits completed in an accredited university with a declared major in cybersecurity or an Information Technology (IT) related field
