Biometric Data Sharing with SLTT Law Enforcement

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) Automated Biometric Identification System (IDENT) is the DHS-wide repository for comparing, storing, and sharing biometric information, such as fingerprints, face images, and iris scans. IDENT is the largest biometric repository in the U.S. government. 

Information Sharing: Law Enforcement Communities

The Information Sharing Initiative for Law Enforcement Communities aims to increase SLTTC law enforcement access and integration into the homeland security information sharing environment. OSLLE offers 1-on-1 technical assistance to members of the law enforcement community.

Green Light Law

In response to New York State implementing the Driver’s License Access and Privacy Act (Green Light Law), Acting Secretary Chad F. Wolf announced New York residents will no longer be eligible to apply for or renew their enrollment in certain Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) like Global Entry. The law prohibits the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) from sharing information with U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), preventing DHS from fully vetting New York residents.

To address this challenge, the Center for Visualization and Data Analytics (CVADA) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology (S&T) Center of Excellence, developed the Mobile Computing Application Platform (MCAP) in partnership with the U.S. Army Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center.
